Bible Reading Plan
To help you with daily Bible reading, I’ve put together a simple and balanced Bible reading plan. You don’t have to use this plan, but this one is designed to be practical, easy to follow, and grounded in sound Bible study. You can download the plan directly below as a pdf, or download the .ini file to use it as a daily checklist inside the app mentioned below.
If you use an iPhone or iPad, there is a free and very simple app called ReadingPlan that I personally use to keep track of daily Bible reading progress. The app includes several default plans, but the custom plan I’ve created follows this structure:
3 chapters from the Old Testament each day
2 chapters from the non-Pauline New Testament books each day
1 chapter from Paul’s epistles each day
By the end of the plan, you will have read the entire Old Testament portion of your Bible about one and a quarter times, and the New Testament portion of your Bible about four and a quarter times. This structure provides balance, keeps you rooted in the mystery of Christ, and helps reinforce what you’re reading by working through each section of Scripture every day.
I’ve used plans where different days focus on different parts of the Bible, which can be helpful for covering large portions quickly. However, I often found it harder to remember context from books I hadn’t read in several days. This plan is designed to help you retain context and familiarity with each book as you move through scriptures consistently.
Once you download the .ini file, you can follow the in-app instructions to load it onto your iPhone or iPad. If you prefer not to use the app, or don’t have an Apple device, you can also print the plan as a PDF checklist and track your progress that way.
